365 Days of Ikebana-Day 198

My inoribana arrangement from yesterday was so much fun that I thought I would try it again today. I had a great selection of flowers to use, a tulip, red twig dogwood and palm leaf. It looks pretty good, and it makes me look forward to my ikebana lesson Sunday when I will get to do it once more, this time with some added tips and improvements. Tomorrow I plan to start looking for some new containers for ikebana, it’s always great to have something new to help inspire and challenge me.

Yesterday I made my return to my Saga Goryu ikebana classes after missing a few classes during December. The shogonka arrangement I posted yesterday was from our class lesson, and we had intended to do a second lesson (inoribana) but ran out of time. So today I thought it would be fun to try doing inoribana or “prayer flowers” arrangement that we did not do in class on my own. This ikebana is meant to evoke an image of hands clasped in prayer, and I hope the piece I created portrays that.
