Karin, I look everywhere! Thrift stores are great, but I look carefully. Try to find things that are handmade, and I find a lot of handmade items there. consignment and second hand stores are great too as well at EBay and Etsy. The advantage of Etsy is the fixed price and the ability to get handmade things, and there are also some great prices on vintage ikebana pieces as well.I also find that German and Dutch pottery that work really well too.
