Heliconia and kiwi vine made a chilly day brighter and seem just a little bit warmer. Maybe the fact that I was daydreaming about a trip to a tropical climate helped things too. My first verson of the arrangement was more vertical, not bad but just not working for me. I thought it would look better with a horizontal element, and some tropicals hold up well out of water so it made sense to move one of the heliconia. Now it’s a horizontal ikebana arrangement!

This is so gorgeous! I just love it.
Lines, color, proportion, the vase, the use of the stems– all come together beautifully.
