365 Days of Ikebana-Day 141

From my Sogetsu ikebana class tonight, ikebana using only branch material. My sensei brought us branches of dirrerent evergreens and some red and green roses and asked us to choose a lesson from either book 3 or 4 of the Sogetsu textbooks. I choose to use the evergreens to do an arrangement with only branch materials since it seemed like more of a holiday arrangement. The materials are pine, cedar, fir, juniper, and pinecones (I added the branch of bradford pear when I got home). I was really thrilled with the way it looked in the suiban I took to class, I had no idea what materials we were going to use and I think a made a great choice.

Greens by themselves sometimes are more interesting than an arrangement with flowers, as this arrangement proves.

I think so too, and it’s the best time of the year to do just greens.

I love being able to just go outside and find great materials to work with, it makes it so much more interesting and personal.
