It’s been raining all day here, a record winter rainfall of 3.1 inches fell today. Our average total rain for December is 3.05 inches. Tonight the temperatures are falling steadily and I thought I should use the scented geranium before we get a freeze in the next day or so. This got me thinking about what variations I could use for Christmas ikebana instead of evergreens and the scented geranium fit the bill. This variety is light green with a white edge, something different and fragrant with a great shape to the leaves. I paired it with some red roses and dark green parsley to add some more contrast in color. This could be done with many other herbs like sage, rosemary, or maybe even some silvery/white dusty miller (which is not an herb, it’s actually considered an evergreen).
