Ikebana wihtout using a kenzan, it’s a pretty simple concept but not quite so easy to do. It’a all about balance, and working to interlace the materials to get them to stand while adding more materials. This one looks simple, but it’s still difficult because there are only two bradford pear branches and one stem of amaryllis. It’s getting them in place and standing that takes a bit of patience. No wire or any material is used to hold things in place, it’s all interlaced branches and stems. More and more this is becoming one of my favorite ikebana methods. It’s fun to work the materials together and be free from using a kenzan, it gives me a more open expressive piece I think.
