365 Days of Ikebana-Day 216

I’ve been working on some hana dome structures for a demonstration I will be giving next month, trying to work with some different ideas. The one I just built needs some adjustments, so I thought I might play a bit with it today. I didn’t have much in the way of fresh materials so I grabbed a few dried things that I had handy to see what I could do. First I wired a white mitsumata branch, and then some dried proteas, hydrangea and pink confetti statice. Then a few branches of curved red twig dogwood caught my interest, and I thought they would give the arrangement some balance and movement. Honestly I didn’t expect much from some random things I had, but I was really surprised. My sensei always says that you should hold onto materials because you never know when they might come in handy, and she was right.
