Today’s ikebana is a move back to my classical Saga Goryu ikebana study, done in class today. It’s a great balance to the more avante garde Sogetsu School, and I think that studying both schools helps me understand ikebana as a whole much better. This arrangement is the Shogonka form and the six main branches represent earth, water, fire, wind, space and knowledge. The materials used are bulrushes, huckleberry branches, iris leaves, hydrangea and ivy.
