365 Days of Ikebana-Day 2

Day 2 of my project “365 Days of Ikebana” is here, and I have my work from today on view. I started with a fountain of zebra grass and a single blue/purple hydrangea and just could not seem to get what I wanted. Lots of reworking the materials, trying to get it right. I took photos and left it alone for a while, and later went back with a different idea. I had removed a large single blade of the grass making the original design and kept thinking about it. Something about that one blade of grass had so much more to offer than the collection of 15 or so in a flowing fountain of grass. I thought I would try again with one blade of grass and two of the hydrangeas. Much improved from the original piece and it looked great from every angle. I’ve included two views to prove it! So I consider day 2 a success and look forward to day 3.

I love the color of your hydrangeas. The single loop of long grass is perfect to reflect that loopy design painted on the footed pot! Great reflection of nature in the designs.

Thanks! This is my favorite so far, with many more to come. It worked out really nice, glad you liked it!
