365 Days of Ikebana-Day 85

Today was a day for me to try reilling my creative well by going to see art at some of the museums here in Washington,DC. It was tiring, but well worth getting a bit of creative thought going again. I came home and crashed, and it was difficult to get moving again. Almost impossible to get an arrangement done, but it did happen. I thought about the white cymbidiums I wanted to usefor today’s arrangement all day long. Color was all around me today and I am really trying to start to learn some color theory (any advice on a good book about flowers and color theory would be much appreciated). I understand it to some degree, but there is so much to learn. The best choice I thought for the white cymbidiums was a black container, so I chose this black Japanese vase I bought some years ago. The red branch was a good strong color to work with the white and black, it really does “pop” in this arrangement. A few aspidistra leaves were added to finish the arrangement and I was done. Some great ideas came from my outing today so stay tuned!
