365 Days of Ikebana-Day 50

Ikebana with fresh, dried and colored materials
Day 50! It’s hard to believe that I have been doing an ikebana arrangement every day for 50 days. I still have a lot more to go, but so far it’s going great. Some days the arrangement is easy and some days it’s not. Today wasn’t so much of a struggle, but more of a progression of ideas and some experimentation. I realize now that I should have taken some photos of the earlier versions which were completely different in almost every single way. Next time I have this problem I will try to document the process from start to finish. The white confetti statice was bought at the supermarket this morning, I needed a little something to work with other then my garden flowers and things collected. But I did try to collect some things to add and none of them worked. At that point I went to some things I had saved and tried them out, the purple dried artichoke was perfect, and then I wanted a leaf of some sort and had the colored red monstera leaf. The design has more of a horizontal feel and works out well with Lesson 13, Book 4 from the Sogetsu textbook : Dried, Bleached or Colored Materials.
